Top Drug Counselor of the Year

Top Counselor of the Decade

William Geha, Educator, Certified Drug Counselor, Prevention Specialist and Director of the Peace Project was recently selected as Top Counselor of the Decade by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

​

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only 1 Counselor is selected for this distinction. Mr. Geha is being recognized for this honor for dedicating over four decades of his knowledge and expertise to helping people as a trusted drug counselor and prevention specialist. He was just honored in Las Vegas at the Bellagio Hotel for his selection as Top Drug Counselor of the Year for 2019 and he was honored in 2018 for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award given by IAOTP. Mr. Geha will receive this distinction on stage in December at the magnificent Plaza Hotel in New York City for 2020.  

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated, “Choosing Mr. Geha for this award was an effortless decision for our panel to make. He is supportive, encouraging and has many years of professional guidance to offer people with addictions. We are proud of Mr. Geha’s merits and we are looking forward to celebrating his success at this year’s Annual Awards Gala in December.”

Mr. Geha has spent a good portion of his life serving as a Certified Drug Counselor and Prevention Specialist and Teacher. His prominent reputation demonstrates his ability to always go above and beyond in the pursuit of making a positive impact on people's lives. Mr. Geha is currently working with Sylvania and Springfield Schools in Northwest Ohio and he is on the Board of the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lucas County.

Traveling worldwide and spreading a drug free message, he co-directed America’s Pride Drug Prevention Team of Toledo with Dr. Ken Newbury and is the Director of the P.E.A.C.E Project. Mr. Geha’s key responsibilities include working in drug prevention, developing anti-bullying programs, recruitment, working with the World Drug Conference, working with the Navajos of New Mexico, the Cree Indians in Canada and the Canadian and British Governments on prevention. 

Today the P.E.A.C.E project has grown to over 1200 students, partnered with the Dixon Center in Washington and Global Easter Seals and is going nationwide.  The project is raising the standards for respect by touching the hearts of kids who have been victims of bullying and kids who feel they do not fit in.

Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Geha obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toledo.  

​

Throughout his remarkable career, Mr. Geha has been an active member in his community and recognized worldwide for his initiative and devotion to the industry. He has received numerous awards, accolades’ and has been featured in publications and magazines.  This year he is being considered for an exclusive interview on T.I.P. Radio hosted by IAOTP.  He was named Top Drug Counselor of the Year and received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award and was featured in T.I.P. (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. Mr. Geha was awarded the Outstanding Professional of the Year by Oxford Who’s Who and Industry Leader of the Year by Strathmore’s Who’s Who. His team was named Team of the Year twice by the World Drug Conference.  He is a member of Sylvania Community Action Team, Advisory Board Lourdes University Department of Criminal Justice, Advisory Board Lucas County Heroin Task Force, and Director of the Peace Project.

Looking back, Mr. Geha attributes his success to his experiences, his family, his faith and staying passionate in all his endeavors.  Mr. Geha says he has been blessed, he loves doing what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning. When he is not working, Mr. Geha enjoys spending time with his loving wife who he has been married to for 46 years and his 4 children and grandchildren.  His children have chosen to follow in his footsteps and become educators as well.  For the future, Mr. Geha will continue to spread positivity, light, love and continue to be a role model and mentor in hopes of continuing to make a difference in people’s lives anyway that he can.
